Greene County Deputy Sentenced For Child Pornography
A Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy was sentenced in federal court today (Thursday) for receiving and distributing child pornography. The United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri in a release said that U.S. District Judge M. Douglas Harpool sentenced 28-year-old Juan T. Jones of Springfield to seven years in federal prison without parole and 10 years of supervised release following incarceration. Jone pleaded guilty on April 18th and was a deputy in the Greene County Sheriff’s Department from 2013 until his arrest in 2016. The Southwest Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force opened the investigation in September of 2015 after a tip from Dropbox that they discovered video and images that contained child pornography that had been uploaded by Jones. Court documents indicate that Jones had more than 1,500 images and 451 videos containing child pornography and was active in exchanging and distributing those images and videos.
