Conservation Department Preparing For Black Bear Hunt

black-bearsThe Missouri Department of Conversation is working on preparations for letting sportsmen in the state hunt bears. One MDC resource scientist thinks it is still a few years off, but the state wants to be ready.  There are an estimated 350 black bears roaming Missouri right now.  When the population reaches 500 or so, the department plans to allow them to be hunted.  Currently, the state agency is developing the needed regulations for a formal bear hunt.
