Missouri Town Turns Down Gun Manufacturing Business

A company which makes A-R-15 semi-automatic rifles is asking for a 200-thousand dollar loan from Boonville to help it move to the central Missouri community.  The C-M-M-G operations are now located in a rural area near Fayette, 14 miles north of Boonville.  Boonville economic development director Jim Gann says most people in the community back the move which would bring 52 high-paying jobs with it.  Opponents say Boonville has weathered the loss of many manufacturing jobs by turning itself into a tourist destination and the gun plant doesn’t fit that picture.
