Mountain Grove City Council Discusses Rental Property Ordinance

The Mountain Grove City Council spent most of Tuesday night’s meeting discussing the proposed rental property registration and inspection ordinance. The meeting started with comments from two renter’s in Mountain Grove, Yvonne Morrison and Michael Brixey…

Alderman Mike Starnes asked Brixey why he was opposed to an ordinance that may benefit him…

City Administrator Rick Otersky made a few suggestions addressing the concerns from the renters and landlords that spoke earlier in the meeting…

City Council voted to amend the ordinance to eliminate language requiring an annual inspection in lieu of a inspections based on complaints and a pre-occupancy inspection. If passed the amended proposed ordinance would require also that landlords pay a flat fee of $25 a year, the fee would be the same no matter how many units or properties a landlord owned.
