Hartville City Council Certifies Election Results

The Hartville City Council met Monday night and start their meeting with a resolution accepting the certification of the April municipal election results. 4 alderman that were present were the 4 that were re-elected, in Ward 1, Jeff Bettendorf and Rex Dugger, in Ward 2 Glenda Moore, and in Ward 3, Melvin Moon. The council then notified the write-in winner in Ward 2, Jesse Mills that he could not be certified because he resides in Ward 1, not the Ward for which he received a write-in vote for.20160411_184045

Those aldermen were then sworn in and the City Clerk Carla Spooner was reappointed before continuing the meeting with a report from City Fire Chief Brian Jolley. Jolley told council that he had just returned back to work after being injured over the winter. He said that the department responded to 19 calls in the last month, mostly EMS calls with a few brush fires, a vehicle fire, and a car crash.

Police Chief Adam Stigall reported to council that the city’s grey Dodge Charger patrol car had finally died and that the city was now down to one patrol car shared between all officers. He said they could get away with that for mean time. City Council and Chief Stigall discussed how they can work the financial side of replacing the patrol car with a new Chevy Special Services Pickup.
