Douglas County Receives Poor Rating From Audit

A report from the Missouri State Auditor’s office gives Douglas County an overall performance rating of “poor” — for the third straight time. County officials say the state is changing its measuring standards and the county isn’t getting credit for the improvements which have been made. The latest audit finds delayed payments made to crime victims and a lack of documentation for purchases and payments. The same issues have been brought up in previous audits in 2008 and 2011. County Treasurer Theresa Miller says the auditor’s office is “nit-picking” office holders.
