Nixon Asking For Expansion of Disaster Declaration

Governor Jay Nixon is asking for an expansion of the federal major disaster declaration in 39 Missouri counties.  Nixon wants the feds to cover the costs of responding to and recovering from the devastating floods which swamped the state from late December to earlier this month.  Sixteen people were killed and hundreds of homes were damaged or destroyed.  Assessment teams have estimated infrastructures repair and recovery costs at 41 million dollars.  Nixon wants public agencies and nonprofits to be eligible for federal assistance.
