Missouri Senate Budget Chairman Accuses Nixon of Wanting To Much

Schaefer-200x300The chairman of the Missouri Senate budget committee says Governor Nixon is asking for too much money.  Columbia Republican Kurt Schaefer says the request for 496 million dollars, on top of the 26 billion the state is already spending, is the biggest mid-year increase request he has ever seen.  Most of that money would go to Medicaid.  Nixon administration officials say more people have signed up for Medicaid than expected.  Schaefer is accusing the Democratic governor of growing state spending using the supplemental budget, which gets less attention and public debate.
