Senator Blunts Bill To Overturn Waters of the US Vetoed by Obama
US Senator Roy Blunt’s bill to overturn the EPA rule known as “Waters of the US” has been vetoed by the president. The Missouri Republican says the rule means the EPA will have authority over nearly 100 percent of all bodies of water. It isn’t clear if backers of Blunt’s legislation have the votes to override. Opponents like farmers and small businesses estimate permitting costs will go up by as much as 52 million dollars-a-year. Supporters say the rule more clearly defines which waters are federally protected.
