Federal Emergency Declaration Made For Missouri Flooding Disaster

(Jefferson City, MO) — Governor Jay Nixon says the president has approved his request for a federal emergency declaration based on the flooding which has devastated Missouri. Thousands of homes and businesses have been destroyed by high water. The Federal Emergency Management Agency has been authorized to provide the equipment and resources needed for recovery. Federal money will cover three-fourths of the cost of the removal of debris and emergency protective measures. The US Army Corps of Engineers and the Missouri National Guard will do most of the work.
