Area Boys Scouts Using Amateur Radio This Weekend
The Douglas County, Wright County, and Ozark County Amateur Radio Emergency Services group will be hosting open house on Saturday, October 17th at the Mountain Grove VFW Hall. At the event area Boy Scouts of America will be on the air using Amateur Radio during the 58th Annual Jamboree and work on their Radio Merit Badge Badges. The Annual Jamboree On The Air also allows Scouts around the world to communicate with each other and contributes to better understanding and mutual respect between youngsters in different countries. Over a half million scouts in 100 countries from Algeria to Zimbabwe take part in this annual event. This is a free event for everyone come and see how emergency communications are setup with amateur radio’s and antenna’s.
